Clone of this World

Medium: 100 cm x 75 cm, mixed media on stretched canvas. Sold during my show in Paris, and found a new home in Saudi Arabia :)

I painted Gaia/ our Earth. She is pregnant, carrying life yet smoking a cigarette, emphasizing our current state of affairs: pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, deforestation, climate change, draining of wetlands, globalization, and the many other factors that are damaging our ecosystem and wiping out species at unprecedented rates.

A little wink to Star Wars’ famous stormtrooper: cloned and bred to do the bidding of the Republic, following blindly and enforcing a broken system that favours individuality and selfishness.
